Rusnak, Savarino get international call-ups

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Colorado Rapids Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Albert Rusnak and Jefferson Savarino, two keys to RSL’s creative attacking force, have been called in for international duty.

Rusnak is set for two matches: a friendly against Denmark and a UEFA Nations League B match against Ukraine.

Savarino is called up for two friendlies to be played against Colombia and Panama.

According to a Real Salt Lake press release, the club anticipates both returning prior to RSL’s Sept. 15 match against Minnesota United at Rio Tinto Stadium.

From a club-issued release, RSL general manager Craig Waibel:

“Albert and Jefferson have been instrumental in our success over the last two seasons and for them to continue to get recognition on the international stage is a testament to their hard work and commitment. We are excited for their opportunities to represent their countries. This is a great chance for them to continue to gain valuable experience and should be a good for their confidence as we enter the final stretch of the season.”

Matches:

  • Sept. 5, Slovakia vs. Denmark,
  • Sept. 7, Venezuela vs. Colombia
  • Sept. 9, Ukraine vs. Slovakia
  • Sept. 11, Panama vs. Venezuela

They are joined by Shawn Barry, who received his first international call-up. He’s set to represent Puerto Rico.
