Real Salt Lake’s center back search looks as close to an end as it could, with Nedum Onuoha all but certain to join the club.
That certainty comes after a report from MLSSoccer.com reporter Sam Stejskal, who says that Onuoha has signed with RSL on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The sources told MLSsoccer.com that Onuoha’s deal is guaranteed through 2019 with a club option for 2020. The contract will not require RSL to use Targeted Allocation Money.
This is the first we’ve heard of any contract details, but they make sense. It’s certainly possible that it’s entirely accurate, especially if Onuoha is coming in on a reduced salary budget impact.
We reported earlier today that Onuoha said he’s joining Real Salt Lake in a BBC Radio Manchester interview, which confirms rumors that surfaced on Aug. 22.
Onuoha’s move is certainly a longer-term one — 2019 will be a big one for RSL’s defensive line.
