RSL: 2019 By The Numbers

A look at some of RSL’s stats for the 2019 regular season.

With Real Salt Lake’s regular season now over, here’s a look at some of the statistics that made up the highs and lows of 2019.

  • 1 is the number of Penalty Kicks we missed scoring on this year. 6 goals in 7 tries.
  • 1.56 Total points per game.
  • 2 Hopefully starting another long run, this is the 2nd consecutive year RSL has made the playoffs.
  • 3 RSL had the 3rd best Goals Against total in the league with 41. Behind only LAFC (37), and D.C. United (38).
  • 4 RSL was 4th place in total number of wins with 16, an honor they shared with 3 other teams (Seattle Sounders, Philadelphia Union, LA Galaxy).
  • 5 Was the total number of red cards RSL players received this year (by 5 different players).
  • 6 Was the RSL’s position in the Supporter’s Shield standings, winning the tiebreaker with Minnesota United.
  • 7 RSL had 3 players earning 7 figure salaries for 2019.
  • 8 Was the number of times RSL got shut out this season.
  • 9 Was the total number of away losses RSL had.
  • 10 Is the number of shutouts Nick Rimando added to his career total.
  • 11 Is RSL’s away goal differential (as in negative 11).
  • 12 Is the total number of shutouts RSL had for 2019 (10 for Rimando, 2 for Putna). It is also the total number of wins we had at home.
  • 13 Total losses for RSL this year.
  • 15 Is the number of goals teams scored against RSL at the RioT. It is also the number of goals RSL scored on the road.
  • 16 Games won by RSL this year.
  • 21 Percent of the games played had RSL losing at the half.

We had some ups, and we had some downs; but in the end we made the playoffs for the 10th time in the teams’ 15 year history. Could we possibly pull off another underdog upset 10 years after our first win? Stay tuned to find out!
