A victory tonight will clinch a home playoff game

Tonight at Zions Bank Stadium, the Monarchs will play host to Austin Bold FC in a match that was postponed from October 5th due to the untimely death of a Bold player. With the end of the USL regular season coming this weekend, it is crunch time for the Monarchs who can still finish anywhere from 2nd to 7th in the final standings. A full three points tonight against Austin will narrow that range significantly as the Monarchs would be assured of at least a 4th place finish, a first round home match and a full week to rest and prepare for the playoffs.

The 9th place Bold come into Herriman with a 3-7-5 record on the road but have only played in a single match since the first of October due to the postponement. Brazilians Andre Lima and Kleber along with USL veteran Kris Tyrpak are featured in a Austin Bold side that leads the USL with an average team age of over 30 years among the starters. With 74 yellow cards so far this season the Bold are among the league leaders with the Monarchs who have 75 of their own.

Playing their third match in 8 days, and another looming on Saturday, the Monarchs remain shorthanded with a couple of injuries and two players just returning from national team duty. Acting Head Coach Jamison Olave, who was able to give Maikel Chang, Jack Blake and Kalen Ryden some time off in the 2-1 victory over Phoenix on Saturday, will once again look to field a strong squad with significant support from RSL in the midfield and defense. Tate Schmitt and Erik Holt has seen regular time with the Monarchs along the back line as part of an experimental 5-3-2 formation that has proven to be very successful at home for the Monarchs.

The match tonight kicks at 7 PM with live streaming on ESPN+ and promotional pricing for Wizard Day with the Monarchs. Grab you robes and join us to cheer them on!
