Real Salt Lake advanced in the MLS playoffs thanks to a game winner from Jefferson Savarino late in the match. They’ll travel to Seattle to take on the Sounders on Wednesday.

Freddy Juarez started the lineup you’d expect, with the exception of Justen Glad who sat on the bench while gMarcelo Silva got the start next to Onuoha.

RSL opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Corey Baird sent a ball in that found its way perfectly to Damir Kreilach’s head, which then found its way to the back of the net to put the home side up 1-0.

Both teams went into the locker room at halftime with RSL leading 1-0 after 45 minutes.

Portland found an equalizer shortly after the halftime break thanks to a Dairon Asprilla header off a corner, leveling the match at 1-1.

Despite the back-and-forth during the second half, the deadlock was broken in the 87th minute thanks to Jefferson Savarino who banged it in off a cross to put the home side up 2-1 late in the game.

Portland couldn’t find an answer as RSL were the victors at home with a 2-1 score line.
