Tony Beltran is returning to Real Salt Lake, says Dell Loy Hansen.
Not as a player, but as an assistant general manager following his retirement from his playing career. That’s from Hansen in an interview with Spence Checketts.
In doing so, he remains ‘one-club’ in his professional soccer career. He joined Real Salt Lake in 2008 having been drafted by the club as the third overall pick.
Beltran’s joining the club in the position isn’t a terribly surprising one, given his standing and stature in the organization. He’s clearly a smart person and focused, and it’s not surprising that he’s moving directly into a position that he can succeed in.
The announcement perhaps was not planned, with Hansen spilling the beans during an interview with Spence Checketts.
Hansen also indicated that another announcement could be expected tomorrow, and that they hope to have everything with new hires and promotions announced by Dec. 6.
