Utah Royals FC announced today that they have re-signed Gunny Jonsdottir, Nicole Barnhart and Taylor Lytle to new deals.
Royals GM Stephanie Lee stated “Barnie, Gunny and Taylor are great representations of what it means to be a Royal, both on and off the field, and we are happy to have them return for year three,”
Gunny Jonsdottir played every minute in team history until this last season, where she made multiple substitute appearances both in the midfield and on the defensive line. She wasn’t as good as many expected her to be, but she still helped the Royals in the midfield.
Nicole Barnhart started and played every minute for the Royals this season, posting multiple shutouts and keeping the Royals in games with her saves. She’s the oldest player in the league. She was expected to share time with GK Abby Smith, but ended up being in goal all season.
Taylor Lytle unfortunately suffered a serious foot injury and didn’t make an appearance at all this year. She’s expected to be healthy and ready to go for next year.
While announcing the re-signings, URFC also announced that they have waived recent acquisition Cali Farquharson, who was picked up off waivers from the Washington Spirit.
