The Monarchs’ captain for their historic 2019 midfielder Jack Blake has been resigned for his third season with the club in Herriman. Despite a injury midseason, Blake accumulated 29 starts and 2450 minutes for the Monarchs during the 2019 season. Jack was also the team leader in passes with 1606 and an overall passing accuracy rating of 83.5%. in addition to 11 goals during the regular season, Blake and RSL loanee Erik Holt led the Monarchs through the USL playoffs with 4 goals and 3 assists each.
“We are pleased that Jack will be part of the Monarchs in 2020,” Real Salt Lake Technical Director Dan Egner said. “His leadership, on field performance, and professionalism off the pitch would have been difficult to replace. As the captain in 2019, he was integral in the Monarchs winning the 2019 USL Championship Title, and we know that he will only raise the level of what this club is trying to achieve moving forward.”
Blake, 25, is a Nottingham, England native who originally joined the Monarchs on loan from the Tampa Bay Rowdies in June of 2018. The midfielder, who expects to receive a green card in the next several months, has also spent time with NASL sides Jacksonville Armada and Minnesota United after deciding to come to the United States to further his career. He is also the producer of a highly successful YouTube channel on life as a professional football player.
“I can’t wait to get back to work and defend our USL Championship Title,” Blake said. “To be back representing this fantastic club and city feels amazing.”
Real Monarchs SLC’s roster for the 2020 USL Championship season now stands at 11 as follows:
