Taylor Peay returning to Real Monarchs

Peay was part of the 2017 USL Regular Season title winners

Real Monarchs SLC has signed Salt Lake City native DF Taylor Peay for the upcoming 2020 USL Championship season. Taylor was a member of the Real Monarchs team that captured the 2017 USL Championship Regular Season title during a previous stay during the 2017-18 seasons during which he made 27 appearances. During the 2018 season, the Brighton High School graduate appeared with parent Real Salt Lake.

Peay spent the 2019 season with the Monarchs USL Championship Final opponent Louisville City FC where he say 1411 minutes on the field in 21 appearances. the 28 year-old Peay was also a member of the Portland Timbers team which won MLS Cup in 2015 and brings a great deal of championship level experience with him.

“Taylor is a player we are familiar with, he is familiar with the club, and we are ecstatic to bring him back,” RSL Technical Director Dan Egner said. “With his MLS and USL Championship experience, we envision him playing a big part in 2020. His leadership is another big aspect of bringing him back. He is a great role model for our younger players to look up to and learn from. We have no doubts that he can return to the form he previously enjoyed with RSL and Monarchs”

The Salt Lake City native marks his return to Real Monarchs having spent the 2019 season with Louisville City FC where he made 21 appearances, 16 of which were starts. In 2015, the towering defender won MLS Cup with the Portland Timbers where he made 18 total appearances across three seasons in the Rose City.

“I’m beyond excited to be back in Salt Lake with the Monarchs,” Peay said. “I can’t wait to get home and get back to work with the club in an effort to win another USL Championship Title next year.”

Real Monarchs SLC’s roster for the 2020 USL Championship season now stands at 10 as follows:
