Albert Rusnak called up for Slovakia’s UEFA qualifiers

The call-up continues Rusnak’s continuity with his national team.

Albert Rusnak is quickly becoming a mainstay for Slovakia’s national team — no surprise, really, given his quality of play with Real Salt Lake.

Today, RSL Communications announced his call-up to that team again for matches on March 21 and March 24.

  • March 21: Home vs. Hungary
  • March 24: Away vs. Wales

Rusnak has scored both of Real Salt Lake’s 2019 goals to date.

As a result of the call-up, Rusnak will miss RSL’s March 23 match against LAFC. In a club-issued release, RSL Communications indicated Rusnak would be available for RSL’s match against FC Dallas on March 30, though it should be noted that there’s a high degree of travel involved for Rusnak.

From a club-issued release, RSL general manager Craig Waibel:

“Albert has had a great start to the season and continues to grow in his role for us and with his national team so we are glad that he continues to be rewarded for his hard work over the last two years.”

From the same release, RSL coach Mike Petke:

“Albert is a mainstay with the Slovakian National Team so I always know he’s going to get called up. It’s fully deserved and I’m happy and proud of Albert.”
