Player Ratings: Montreal 2-1 RSL

RSL was unable to create enough chances to get points in Montreal.

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Montreal Impact Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando- 5.5 Rimando had a great first five minutes and a pretty average performance from that point on.

Brooks Lennon - 5.5 Lennon got his first significant minutes in a good while and had a pretty decent showing, particularly in his ability to win the ball back.

Justen Glad - 6.5 Glad was clearly RSL’s best defender on the night. He came up with some big tackles and gave RSL a fighting chance.

Erik Holt - 5.5 Holt used his physicality to his advantage and forced Montreal’s attackers to try to go around him multiple times.

Donny Toia - 3.5 Toia did some good things but really made things difficult for RSL committing a penalty that gave Montreal a two goal lead.

Justin Portillo - 5 Portillo had flashes of good play but did not close out quickly enough late in the first half to cut off the entry pass that allowed Montreal to take the lead. In fairness, he had to choose between two attackers on the play.

Albert Rusnak - 6 Rusnak saw a lot of space in Montreal and controlled a lot of the game before he came off with an injury.

Damir Kreilach - 6.5 Kreilach was the catalyst for RSL the few times that RSL had a look at goal and was awarded with the assist on a nice header pass to Sam Johnson.

Sam Johnson - 6.5 Johnson did not see as much of the ball as he needed to in order to have more of an impact, but his hold up play was impressive and he was able to score a goal late to give RSL a chance to grab a point.

Jefferson Savarino - 5.5 Savarino did not have a poor game, but he did look gassed after his dramatic performance against Atlanta.

Joao Plata - 3 Plata’s passes were lacking for pretty much the entire time he was on the field and his lackluster defending was unacceptable.

Substitutes

Corey Baird - 5.5 Baird had a positive impact on the game with his speed and his willingness to chip in on defense.

Bofo Saucedo - 6 Bofo was definitely RSL’s impact sub with his ability to create some scoring chances for RSL in just over 20 minutes on the field. He nearly evened the game up on his free kick.
