Real Salt Lake’s entry into the 2019 edition of the U.S. Open Cup will take place at Rio Tinto Stadium, and they’re one of a select few MLS teams facing another MLS team.
The match will take place on June 11 or 12 — that’s forthcoming information, and we’ll update when we know more. It should be a scintillating affair, especially as it falls in the middle of an international break for RSL. With only a few players anticipated to be departing for international duty, it could give the club a chance to field a mostly full-strength lineup.

Real Salt Lake has never won the Cup, though 2013 did see them come close, falling 1-0 to a league-worst D.C. United team.
RSL faces LAFC at home again on Aug. 17 in MLS action; they previously lost 2-1 on the road to the league toppers. In tournament action, RSL forced LAFC out of the playoffs in 2018 in a widely unexpected result.
Another MLS team facing an MLS team? That’s Seattle Sounders, who will host Portland Timbers. That should be fun.
