Andrew Putna - 5.5 A couple of goals for Portland made Putna look much worse that he actually played. He was very good positionally and the goals that went in were both next to impossible for him to do much about.
Aaron Herrera - 5 Herrera was decent on the night but not spectacular. He wanted to take a shot later in the game but it ended up somewhere in the north end seats.
Justen Glad - 4.5 Glad did not play horrible by any means, but his passing out of the back was not up to snuff.
Nedum Onuoha - 6.5 Nedum was once again solid in the back and singlehandedly put an end to a few Portland attacks.
Donny Toia - 4.5 Toia got beat a handful of times on his side and gave the Timbers a few too many looks at the goal.
Nick Besler - 5 Besler got his first start in midfield in 2019 replacing the inimitable Kyle Beckerman and did pretty well for himself. Nothing spectacularly, but he filled some big shoes without too big of a drop off.
Corey Baird - 6 Baird’s assist to Johnson was a thing of beauty. A lot of RSL’s chances came through the Stanford product for that matter.
Albert Rusnak - 4 Rusnak’s poorly taken penalty changed the feel of the game when RSL could have gone up a goal. It was a huge missed opportunity. That said, he did some pretty good things after that when he was on the ball.
Damir Kreilach - 5.5 Kreilach had a quiet game for the most part but did a lot of work in the midfield to keep the ball in RSL’s possession.
Jefferson Savarino - 6 Savarino was a dangerous player for RSL with the most shots taken and some pretty decent looks for those around him. On the other hand, he missed some runs that could have led to goals.
Sam Johnson - 6.5 Johnson made the right runs and was rewarded with a toe poke goal to level the game for RSL. The repeated offside calls were not his fault, rather, the through balls needed to happen a little quicker.
Substitutes
Bofo Saucedo - 5.5 Bofo got off a few shots in a little over 20 minutes and played the super sub role once again.
Brooks Lennon - 5.5 Lennon only played about 10 minutes but he made the most of it with his fresh legs and effort.
Joao Plata - N/A
