It’s not often that I feel compelled to write about two goals in a single game like this, but here we are, and we have two men to thank for it: Damir Kreilach and Sam Johnson. Oh, maybe three. Albert Rusnak deserves to be in the conversation, too.
The first goal came from Rusnak’s corner, Kreilach’s lob from the top of the box, and Johnson’s poaching effort. The second goal? Well, that came in even more surprising fashion.
Watch.

This clip misses Rusnak picking off the ball to start a beautiful counter, but it catches the really fun part of the play. Rusnak’s cross to Kreilach leaves him unmarked, and frankly, we all know he can score there. He’s brilliant, after all.
Sam Johnson had other plans. His second goal on the night was probably not his to score, but there’s a great quote for this.
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. — Wayne Gretzky”
— Michael Scott
If you want to, you might read about the first goal, which was also a real beauty.
