Rusnak, Savarino called up for international matches

Both are likely to miss RSL’s Sept. 11 home match.

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Houston Dynamo Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Real Salt Lake’s attacking corps will be set for a substantial test in short order, with Albert Rusnak and Jefferson Savarino being called up for Slovakia and Venezuela, respectively.

Both players will be available for Saturday’s match in Portland, but it’s near-inevitable that both will be missing out as Real Salt Lake hosts San Jose Earthquakes on Sept. 11.

There’s certainly a possibility that other players will miss out. A handful of RSL’s youth could be out with the United States Under-23 team as they prepare for Olympic qualifiers, also on Sept. 9. That could include Justen Glad, Aaron Herrera, Corey Baird, with some fringe players including David Ochoa, Brooks Lennon and Erik Holt.
