The captain led the team to a home win.

MLS: New York City FC at Real Salt Lake Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 6.5 Rimando did not have to make a lot of difficult saves, but he made six saves nonetheless.

Aaron Herrera - 6.5 Herrera continue his run of form against New York. He was positionally sound and made some nice passes to threaten NYC’s defense.

Marcelo Silva - 6 Silva was quiet but effective. He is going to really make the coach’s decision difficult once Onuoha is back to full health.

Justen Glad - 6.5 Justen won a lot of aerial battles and was in the right places to stop New York from getting too many looks at the goal.

Donny Toia - 6 Toia had a clean game on the defensive side of the game. If he lost the ball, he was right back in the mix to win it back.

Kyle Beckerman - 7.5 Beckerman played with a little bit of a fire underneath him. His passes were crisp and timely and he earned two assists with his vision.

Everton Luiz - 5 Everton seemed to give up on New York’s early goal and had a patchy first half. The second half was a different story. He turned into a wrecking ball.

Albert Rusnak - 7 Even though Rusnak was not quite as involved as we would like him to be, he still managed to get an incredible goal and was credited with an assist on the Savarino goal. He came through when it mattered.

Jefferson Savarino - 7 Savarino had a rough start to the game but really made up for it with his goal and his ability to stretch the field the rest of the game. He also got an assist on the Besler goal even though I don’t think that ended up the way anyone expected.

Corey Baird - 5 Corey’s having a hard time finding his rhythm of late. He had a poor giveaway early to allow New York to get the ball in front of the goal and score. His work rate was never lacking, however.

Damir Kreilach - 5.5 Damir had a pretty uneventful game, but he was able to draw some attention from the defenders.

Substitutes:

Sebastian “Bofo” Saucedo - 5 Bofo was RSL’s first sub and never was able to get into a real groove.

Nick Besler - 6.5 Besler’s goal was something you’d expect to see from a superstar. He casually flicked the ball in with the bottom of his foot while facing backwards. Also notable, his defense and passing were on point.
