In what appears to be a stunning twist in world football, Real Salt Lake is set to sign a player who not only had an offer on the table from a European side — but apparently a nearly agreed deal.
That player is Jeizon Ramirez Chacon, an 18-year-old Venezuelan attacker playing on the right wing. Reports from Colombian journalist Carlos Luis Roa, who covers Venezuelan football, indicate that Chacon’s club, Tachira, received a bigger offer from Real Salt Lake.
Here are the tweets. Feel free to use Google Translate, or if you know Spanish, comment with a much better translation below.

Anyway, who is this kid? Just 18?
Honestly, the move reminds me of Jefferson Savarino’s acquisition by RSL in 2017. He was a young, talented player — a bit older at 20, but not by much — and was rumored to have other interest before joining us.
So, a pretty cool move, all told. This feels like a move that’s going to happen, for one reason or another. We’ll see, of course.
Further, the Savarino deal looks to nearly be done, with the player undergoing a medical at Atletico Mineiro. We’ll see how that goes, but it’s hard to imagine he hits any roadblocks.
