RSL vs. Colorado postponed after spate of COVID-19 cases

The match was slated to take place on Sunday.

With Colorado Rapids suffering a slew of positive COVID-19 tests between players and staff, matches have been cancelled since Sept. 23 — and MLS announced today that the following 10 days of matches will be postponed, as well.

While the Rapids have had no new positive tests — a fact for which we should all breathe a sigh of relief, because nobody deserves to contract a virus with potentially deadly effects, or potentially long-term effects — MLS has announced the postponement of their next three matches, one of which is the Oct. 18 match against Real Salt Lake.

Of course, making up the match will prove extraordinarily difficult for the Rapids — their schedule has no foreseeable gaps, leading some speculation to point toward a post-Decision-Day schedule for the Rapids and teams involved in postponed matches.

We’ll see what the cards hold, and we’ll continue to hope that Colorado Rapids players and staff recover quickly.
