Midfielder Pablo Ruiz has been signed a contract extension with Real Salt Lake, the club announced Sunday morning. The deal is set to keep the Argentine-Chilea at RSL until 2025.
Ruiz has been a bright spot for RSL in a difficult season. He originally signed with RSL in 2018, but was not a regular part of the team. He played with USL-side Real Monarchs before signing a load deal that took him to the Austrian third division with FC Pinzgau Saalfelden. He returned to Utah and quickly became a regular part of head coach Freddy Juarez’s starting XI.
“He is a player who has shown his ability to impact matches at a high-level right now, but has almost limitless potential to become even more.” says RSL General Manager Elliot Fall. “His development over the last 18 months has been fantastic to watch and we are thrilled to finalize this agreement and ensure RSL is the club where Pablo will take the next steps in his career.”
Ruiz is a player that’s been touted as having a high ceiling, even drawing attention from European scouts. He’s a player to watch with an exciting future.
Real Salt Lake take on the LA Galaxy in Carson, CA. tonight at 8:30 pm.
