Real Monarchs have signed 23-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder Josimar Quintero from RCD Espanyol in the Segunda Division of Spain’s La Liga through the 2021 season. As always this is pending approval of his P-1 Visa and travel under Covid-19 conditions.

“Josimar is another young, dynamic attacking player for the Monarchs roster. His combined experience and ability to cover ground in the midfield brings an industrial upgrade to the roster. We look forward to watching him develop and mature as a player with the Monarchs,” Real Salt Lake Assistant General Manager Tony Beltran said.

Quintero entered La Masia, FC Barcelona’s youth academy, at age 8 before before moving to the Chelsea academy as a late teenager. While in England, Quintero competed with the youth academy and the reserve team in the Premier Reserve League.

After turning 18 while still with Chelsea, Quintero spent 2017-2019 on loan to several other European clubs before signing with RCD Espanyol for the 2019-2020 season where he logged 344 minutes with Espanyol B in 10 matches.
