RSL signs Academy forward Chris Garcia

Garcia becomes RSL’s 21st homegrown signing

MLS: MLS Cup Playoffs-Round One-Portland Timbers at Real Salt Lake Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

RSL has announced the signing of RSL Academy forward Christopher Garcia. The seventeen year old has been a part of the academy since the 2018-2019 season. He is officially the twenty-first academy players signed and is one of eleven on the current roster.

His overall academy stats are impressive: eighteen goals in thirty-eight games with thirty starts.

“Chris is the latest in a long line of extremely talented players to come from our academy,” RSL General Manager Elliot Fall said. “He has already proven himself a standout academy performer and has been excellent when incorporated into professional training sessions. His technical ability and fantastic work rate give him an unlimited ceiling on his professional career.”

That’s some high praise for the youngster.

Expect Garcia to spend most of his time with Real Monarchs as he competes with others for those RSL minutes. He’s lower on the depth chart, but this is a great opportunity for him to demonstrate his mettle. He’s another in a great string of RSL Academy players.
