In the latest edition of Off the Crossbar, Matt, Kyle and Trevor talk about Real Salt Lake’s 0-0 draw with Orlando City to open the season and preview RSL’s home opener against New York Red Bulls.
Beyond that? They’re all desperately clinging to the hope that Aaron Herrera will play right back and not right wing against New York, where he has looked markedly better.
Of course, no discussion of the opener would be complete without a discussion about how good Giuseppe Rossi could be for this club, or if Damir Kreilach should be dropped into the midfield instead of forward. Could he provide the same influence there? After moving into the position late in the second half against Orlando, we tend to think so.
Beyond all that, there’s a good deal of optimism around Corey Baird and his potential to make a difference in the short-term. With all signs pointing to a start on Saturday, will he be a differentiator?
