Utah Royals FC seeding for the NWSL’s 2020 Challenge Cup

The Royals are number 4 in the seeding and will face Washington in their opening game

The NWSL’s 2020 Challenge Cup is set to kickoff on June 27, 2020 at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah. The tournament will be see all nine NWSL teams come to Utah, and will start with a preliminary round where each team will play four games in order to advance to the knockout stage rounds. The top eight teams will advance from the preliminary around. The final will be played on July 26, at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.

On Monday, June 1st the NWSL held a blind draw for the seeding for the preliminary around of the tournament. NWSL Commissioner Lisa Baird joined CBS Sports for the seeding draft.

The seeding is as follows:

9 - Orlando Pride

8 - OL Reign

7 - Portland Thorns

6 - Sky Blue FC

5 - North Carolina Courage

4 - Utah Royals FC

3 - Houston Dash

2 - Washington Spirit

1 - Chicago Red Stars

Utah Royals will face Washington Spirit on Tuesday, June 30.

At time of publication, the remainder of the schedule has not been announced.
