Utah Royals FC and Valur Women’s Football In Iceland have agreed to a three-month loan of midfielder Gunnhildur “Gunny” Jónsdóttir for the remainder of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna season.
It’s the first loan of a Utah player following the completion of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup. More players could follow as the league has gone into a hiatus as COVID-19 continues to impact sports in the U.S.
Jónsdóttir has been with Utah Royals FC since the start of the club’s inaugural season. She currently leads the club in all-time games played (52) and minutes played (4,243). Jónsdóttir has scored two goals and ranked second in team history with six assists.
