UPDATE: This match has been postponed.
Real Salt Lake haven’t played at Rio Tinto Stadium since March 7th. That game was an exciting 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls, and a game that RSL were close to winning. Five months later and a part way through a global pandemic, Real will host LAFC. The two teams are level on points in the MLS standings, so this game has big implications in a playoff race.
What to watch
- Will Maikel Chang get the start after a strong substitute performance against Colorado Rapids? It would be his first start for Real Salt Lake after multiple good years with Real Monarchs.
- With Douglas Martinez out, what will Freddy Juarez do at forward? He has multiple options — Giuseppe Rossi and Sam Johnson aren’t injured, or at the very least aren’t reported as such — and went with an interesting look on Saturday that didn’t just plop Damir Kreilach up top.
- Substitution patterns have long been a sticking point for fans with all coaches in all leagues, and it remains so today with Freddy Juarez. After a risky move that worked out incredibly last week, will such heroics be necessary again? Will we see early or late substitutions?
