MLS Players Association demands Hansen suspension, potential RSL sale

It’s a strong, unequivocal statement from the MLS Players Association.

The first public statement by a Major League Soccer organization — at least, the first after The Athletic dropped a bombshell report about Dell Loy Hansen’s history of racist actions — has dropped, and it’s from the MLS Players Association.

There is no real surprise there, given their history of strong, decisive statements. This one is very much in the same vein.

The allegations in tonight’s Athletic story concerning RSL owner Dell Loy Hansen are sickening. The MLSPA calls upon MLS to immediately suspend Hansen and conduct a thorough investigation. If the allegations are substantiated, he must be forced to sell the team.

There’s not much room for ambiguity in that statement.

As before, be on the lookout for a full roundup of the news later today. It’s been a crazy day over here at RSL Soapbox.
