Despite a few good chances, neither team could find the back of the net in Saint Paul tonight as RSL leaves Minnesota with a point after a 0-0 draw.
Justen Glad started at left back in place of Donny Toia who began the game on the bench, and the lineup was completely missing Corey Baird as reports say he missed the flight out to Minnesota so wasn’t able to be there for the game.
There was a shout for a handball in first half stoppage time when Rusnak was dribbling through Minnesota defenders toward the goal. The ball bounced up and pinged off Boxall’s outstretched hand in the penalty area, but referee Drew Fischer didn’t blow the whistle and play resumed despite the protests.
Despite RSL getting a good look from Kreilach late in the first half, the teams didn’t have much to speak of between them as they went into the halftime break tied at 0-0. Minnesota controlled 56% of possession but the visitors outshot the Loons with five overall and only two on target in the first 45.
Justen Glad received a yellow card late in the game and will miss next week’s contest against LAFC due to yellow card accumulation.
Neither team was able to capitalize in the second half and the game ended in a scoreless tie; much better for the visitors after their 4-0 loss here just three weeks ago.
