Real Salt Lake dropped a 1-0 result on the road to the Chicago Fire thanks to a goal from Robert Beric in the waning minutes of the first half. RSL had a game in hand on the teams in front of them in the Western Conference, but the loss keeps them below the playoff line, just one point behind the 7th place Vancouver Whitecaps.

Chicago opened the scoring just before the end of the first half when Robert Beric sent a right footed shot from the middle of the box that ended up finding its way past David Ochoa in the bottom right corner, putting the home side up 1-0 heading into halftime.

Despite some back and forth play, RSL wasn’t able to get an equalizer let alone a winning goal and Chicago got all three points with a 1-0 win. The Fire outshot RSL 12-7 overall, while putting 10 on frame to RSL’s five. Real Salt Lake stays below the playoff line with just four games left to play.

RSL travels to Texas to take on FC Dallas on October 27th in hopes of grabbing some more points as the playoffs approach rapidly.
