Player Ratings: Austin 2-1 RSL

Substitutes changed the feel of the game for RSL.

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Austin FC Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

David Ochoa - 6.5 Ochoa made more than a handful of saves in Texas to give RSL a fighting chance. He showed us some great reaction time.

Donny Toia - 4.5 Nothing too special out of Toia in Austin, he had a decent tackle or two but a few too many bad touches resulting in giveaways as well.

Erik Holt - 4 Holt got beat badly on Austin’s second goal allowing the attack to get behind him on a throw-in.

Justen Glad - 6 Glad played a smart game in Austin making timely tactical fouls and playing physical when needed.

Aaron Herrera - 6 Herrera looked as comfortable as ever pushing up the sideline and whipping the ball inside.

Nick Besler - 6 Besler was there to win the ball back for RSL and clean up some messes in the midfield. A nice game from him.

Pablo Ruiz - 4 Ruiz played frustrated and it showed. He gave the ball away softly too many times.

Justin Meram - 4 Meram saw quite a bit of the ball but was pretty much ineffective in creating scoring opportunities for RSL. He should have tracked Cecilio Dominguez on the first Austin goal.

Damir Kreilach - 6.5 Kreilach picked up another goal for RSL off of some beautiful build-up play from Menendez and Rubin. Damir was reliable on both sides of the ball.

Albert Rusnak - 6 Rusnak pushed the ball up the field for RSL resulting in some decent looks for RSL in front of goal.

Anderson Julio - 6 Julio put in every last bit of effort that he had in his first chance to start in a while and even though he did not end up on the scoresheet, he was one of the better players for RSL in the first half.

Substitutes

Everton Luiz - 5 Luiz did not exactly have a huge impact in the middle of the field coming on as the first sub, but he did help get numbers forward.

Jonathan Menendez - 6.5 Joni came on and was a game-changer in terms of how much he allowed RSL to control the ball compared to what it was like before he came on.

Rubio Rubin - 6.5 Rubin brought a new look up front and was able to get one shot on goal. More importantly, he set up Damir on the goal with a beautiful one-touch pass.
