If Twitter is considered a source, then we have reason to believe that Jefferson Savarino could see his time at Atletico Mineiro come to an end, which could mean another infusion of cash for Real Salt Lake.
Antony Gonzalez, a purported Colombian scout tweeted recently that “Venezuelan winger Jefferson Savarino was offered to Boca Juniors. The “xeneize” is investigating contractual issues and would like the idea of bringing it on loan. He had a good season with Atlético Mineiro, scoring 7 goals and 7 assists for Brasileirao.”
What makes this rumor even more compelling is that it is rumored that Atletico Mineiro are asking for $10 million from Boca Juniors to complete the loan with an option to buy.
We are currently tracking down the source of that $10m figure and until we can we will proceed with combined optimism in the move, and skepticism towards the amount rumored.

Here is to hoping that the rumors are true. If you recall, when RSL sold Savarino to Atl. Mineiro it included a 40% sell-on fee, meaning that Real Salt Lake would get 40% of whatever transfer fee Atl. Mineiro, whether that be $10 million or any other amount.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one as this could mean an infusion of cash back into the club and hopefully into the acquisition of new players.
On a side note, we wish Savarino nothing but the best and really miss him donning the Claret and Cobalt.
