The earlier reports of Nick Rimando’s addition to the RSL academy coaching have been confirmed, with RSL announcing changes to the academy coaching staff in a press release today.
Rimando, who will serve as the academy’s goalkeeper coach as well as a club ambassador, is joined by the arrival of Andrew May, former head coach at both LA Galaxy and Chivas USA academies.
May has been named head coach at the academy, moving from RSL-Arizona, where he was group director for the U-15 and U-9 boys’ teams. Before moving to RSL-Arizona in 2019, May was head coach at the LA Galaxy academy from 2016 to 2019 and head coach at Chivas USA’s academy from 2012 to 2015.
In addition to Rimando and May, the club has named Jamie McGregor and Ronny Charry as members of the coaching staff, moving up from other positions in the academy. McGregor was formerly Director of Community Development for the academy; prior to his arrival at RSL Academy, he was a youth coach at Rangers FC.
Charry joins the staff having been assistant technical director at the academy, as well as head coach of the academy’s U-14 side.
The press release also announces the following additions:
- Luke Cantin, assistant athletic trainer
- Connor Gorny, head of academy strength and conditioning
- Colton Atkin, assistant team administrator
- Somer Rogers, wellness manager

“I’m excited to join the RSL Academy staff to help develop and mentor these young men. Every player has their own journey, and I am looking forward to using my experience to guide and help them reach their goals. RSL has been a big part of my life on and off the field. After taking some time off and seeing the direction of the club I’m thrilled to join RSL in an ambassador role. I’m excited to bring that buzz back to RSL Nation and to connect with our fans and build a strong relationship with all of our communities.”
