Real Monarchs SLC return to action tonight at 7:00 PM in Zions Bank Stadium against Mountain Division foe Austin Bold FC. After playing the full 180 minutes in the Monarchs first two matches on call up from the Real Salt Lake Academy, center-back Jaziel Orozco signed his first professional contract this week and became the 15th player on the Monarchs USL roster. With the return of Chris Garcia, from suspension and the absence of any new injuries head coach Jamson Olave should have a large pool to select as internal players signed by the Monarchs continue to arrive and work up to game fitness.
Austin Bold FC lost to Mountain Division foe New Mexico FC on the road last weekend and enters Zions Bank Stadium with a 0-1-0 record and the only team below the Monarchs in the divisional standings. The only prior visit to Zion Bank Stadium by the Bold was during the 2019 season and ended in a 2-2 draw. Just as the Monarchs, Austin has undergone a major restructuring for the 2021 season including an entire new front line of Juan Torres, Sean Okoli and Jason Johnson who are all have experience with MLS And USL sides.
The two sides will face each other a second time next Wednesday night in Austin as the Monarchs head out on a quick road trip that will also include their first ever match against Eastern Conference foe Hartford United on Saturday, May 29th.
