I was at the punk rock show on a farm here in Salem, Oregon this afternoon and was worried I might miss the match. I did not.
We are rather spoiled to have Brian Dunseth calling matches for RSL. I had the LAFC announcers on the ESPN+ call. Let’s just keep it at the fact that we RSL fans are spoiled to have Brian Dunseth.
Ochoa
Ochoa showed some ninja goalkeeping tonight. Alas, it was not enough. He faced a lot of shots and got a sweet PK save against Vela, which is the kind of thing you remember forever. The shots kept coming, though, and statistics were not in our favor as LAFC were able to bag two goals to our one.
We built a shield wall to try to keep LAFC out, but the wall did not hold.
And let’s face it. LAFC had a lot of bad luck with their finishing. It was poor, and we should probably have lost by a lot more than just one goal. Probably has nothing to do with the scoreline, though.
It looks like LAFC are climbing while RSL are falling. The Western Conference is a packed group. Learn from this one, adapt, and move onward.
Overreactions
I’m tired from listening to punk rock in the sun all day while drinking hard apple cider, so I’m just going to shrug and look past this loss. We defended hard against a strong attack. It came to nothing.
Dear Bobby Wood. Please score a hat trick. Or one goal.
Dear Anyone Else. Please score a hat trick. Or one goal.
