It’s always fun when the Colorado Rapids come to town. Although they may have somehow snaked the 2020 edition of the Rocky Mountain Cup, Salt Lake knows who its rightful owners are.
Those rightful owners won 3-0 on Saturday night.
Though the first goal came off an own goal, RSL showed pretty well all the way around. Damir Kreilach had a great game, Maikel Chang had a few good looks, Rubio Rubin found the back of the net as well.
In this one, though, it was Bobby Wood who reminded us all why he needs to see more minutes on the field. He scored the goal tonight that took RSL up 2-0, and that’s when RSL truly took control of this game.
Wood ya just look at this goal

His work ethic was there and his veteran presence was felt. Wood has been on some of the biggest stages and although he hasn’t been around for the RSL vs Colorado rivalry for too long, you could feel hie energy in this game.
He has one goal in his two starts this season and even if he’s not on the scoresheet, his offensive presence is felt. He is dominant with the ball at his feet now that he is comfortable with the team and getting more minutes.
An honorable mention tonight does go to Rubio Rubin. We didn’t see much of him tonight, but his showings continue to be impressive. With five goals in fourteen games, he’s showing why he deserves more minutes too.
When RSL’s attack isn’t bogged down trying to defend the whole game too, this team has a lucrative attack. Hopefully we will see more of that in the coming weeks.
