Real Salt Lake extended their winless streak to three as they dropped a result to visitors LAFC with a 1-0 score line, thanks to a second half goal from Jose Cifuentes.

On paper, RSL were the better team with 59 percent possession while logging 13 shots to LAFC’s seven, but LAFC only put one of those on target and turns out that’s all they needed.

This game marked the return of striker Corey Baird who joined LAFC in this past offseason and has been one of their leading scorers this season so far.

LAFC opened the scoring in the 69th minute after a hard-fought battle thus far, thanks to a goal from Jose Cifuentes off a team buildup that saw the visitors take the lead 1-0 with just over 20 minutes to play.

Maikel Chang almost had an answer not too much later when he fired a shot from the middle of the 18, but LAFC’s keeper was able to parry it out back into play, keeping the home side off the score sheet.

The game ended with neither side able to find another goal, leaving Real Salt Lake to figure things out after going winless in three.
