The Monarchs will have their fourth match in the past 11 days tonight in Colorado Springs as they face division rivals the Switchbacks for the first time this season. Having managed to take 5 points across their last three matches the Monarchs are looking to extend their unbeaten streak to four matches for the first time this season.
More importantly, the Monarchs’ offense came alive to score the final three goals to fight back from a two goal deficient to win their last match on Wednesday against New Mexico United. Those 3 goals moved their average back up to 1.0 goal per match for the first time since the May 21st and their third game of the year.
A victory tonight will allow the Monarchs to jump San Antonio and move up out of the cellar in the Mountain Division. They will also be only a point short of the current playoff line at 14 points.
The Monarchs continue to rely upon players on loan from the RSL Academy and Real Salt Lake. Jimmy Slayton, Bode Davis and Bryan Gomez remain out with injury and Douglas Martinez who has been playing with the Monarchs is leaving to join the Honduran National Team in the Olympics.
Tonight’s match will be streamed live on ESPN+ at 6:30 PM and also available for later replay on the same service.
