David Ochoa - 6 Ochoa was not really under pressure for most of the game, but he clearly made a mistake not saving an olimpico goal near post. He came up big and prevented two great shots from San Jose in stoppage.
Donny Toia - 2.5 Unfortunately, Toia got exposed twice leading to two goals. He lost track of Lopez and got caught way out of position on the first goal from Lopez. Later, Lopez embarrassed Toia putting him on his butt with a cutback and San Jose leveled the game.
Marcelo Silva - 5 Silva only played about 20 minutes before he had to come off due to injury, not a lot of time to find a rhythm.
Justen Glad - 6.5 Glad was a bright spot for RSL on the back line. He had some great reads and won the ball over and over again.
Nick Besler 4.5 Besler made some questionable decisions in the middle of the field as the lone defensive midfielder for most of the match.
Damir Kreilach - 6.5 Kreilach was in the mix a lot for RSL and created chaos and some good looks for RSL up front.
Albert Rusnak - 8.5 Albert picked up steam as the game went on and was very dangerous for RSL. He created plenty of chances for RSL and earned RSL’s second goal and then assisted the third goal. He wasn’t done just yet, finding Rubin for the go-ahead goal and picking up his second assist in the game.
Justin Meram - 6 Meram was not overly involved but had a few good moments culminating in a header that went off of a San Jose player and then luckily in the goal
Jonathan Menendez - 6 Menendez had a great chance in his minutes in the first half that he created by himself that was ultimately saved. He was on the ball a lot in San Jose.
Maikel Chang - 5.5 Chang created some half chances for the claret and cobalt but also made some poor attacking decisions when there were clearly better options.
Rubio Rubin - 8 Rubio had been in a bit of a goal drought until this game and he rightfully earned a goal just before the half by being relentless on the follow up off of Kreilach’s header. Later in the 81st minute he finished his 7th goal of the season beating the keeper at the near post.
Substitutes
Erik Holt - 4 Holt came on as an early substitution to replace Silva and was unaware that Lopez is a left-footer. Lopez got away from Holt pretty easily and San Jose scored first.
Pablo Ruiz - 6 Ruiz had a clean assist to Rusnak giving him a good enough look to score a goal. In the 77th minute he had a great opportunity to score that he wasted and will surely will want back.
Anderson Julio - 5.5 Julio opened the game up even more than it already was when he came on and giving RSL fresh legs.
Toni Datkovic - 5.5 Datkovic came on to help lock it down and succeeded at his task.
Ashtone Morgan - N/A
