RSL Family wrap-up, May 22–28

Three wins in three games makes a happy weekend for all the players in Claret-and-Cobalt.

It was a good week for Utah soccer, with all three teams picking up wins over the Memorial Day weekend.

Real Salt Lake vs. Philadelphia Union

The first team welcomed back a key piece of their defense, Joao Plata scored a much-needed goal, and RSL got their second consecutive home victory over Philadelphia on Saturday night. Also, Sunny was named to the MLS Team of the Week for his efforts in the defensive midfield.

Real Monarchs at Vancouver Whitecaps 2

The Monarchs claimed a 6th consecutive victory with their 2-1 win against Whitecaps 2 in Vancouver on Sunday. Taylor Peay and Nick Besler scored off corners by Charlie Adams, and captain Besler was also selected to the USL Team of the Week.

RSL Women vs. Calgary Foothills WFC

In UWS action Friday night, the women’s team eased the sting of the surprise loss in their opening match by defeating Calgary 3-0 on Friday night. Those who made it out to the match were treated to a strong performance on both sides of the ball, which led to Team of the Week honors for Hailey Skolmoski, Natalie Norris, and Becca Ritchie.
