Max Rauhofer, a 24-year-old Uruguayan striker who plays as a "true number nine" will be joining Real Monarchs, according to a club press release.
Rauhofer played for second-division Spanish side Albacete's fourth-division reserve side for three years, moving from Deportivo Maldonado. He then went on to play for Uruguayan side Liverpool FC until 2014, when he moved to Sud America, a first-division side.
In a press release, Monarchs coach Freddy Juarez praised Rauhofer's experience.
"Max is a 6-foot-1 striker, a true number nine, which is something we need to add to our mix," Juarez said in a press release. "Rauhofer has a physical presence, holds the ball well, is good in the air and has excellent feet for a big man. He will also bring experience and professionalism to our side, as he's played on competitive, scrappy teams that have competed for spots in Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana tournaments. Our young players will certainly learn from him."
Rauhofer, the press release says, is eligible for Friday's match against Colorado Springs.
