What to watch

How do the Monarchs define themselves under new head coach Mark Briggs? We’ve only seen one match with him in charge, and the results were compelling. But balancing competitiveness in USL with rotation for the first team is a tricky thing, and don’t be surprised if an RSL player or two get a run out.

Among them? Look for right back Reagan Dunk, who hasn’t made his first team debut. With RSL lacking defensive options, he wasn’t taken to the team’s match against Minnesota, so will we continue seeing him for the Monarchs in the immediate future?

Look, too, for Omar Holness and Jose Hernandez, both of whom have been in and out of the first team, earning sparing minutes. Will one or both of them start, knowing that RSL’s home match on Saturday could mean that they get a chance here, without travel to worry about?
