Just when you thought all might be quiet on the western front, Real Monarchs signed two players today — and one of them has CONCACAF national team experience.

Costa Rican national team winger Diego Calvo, 26, joins, as does Argentine forward Juan Mare, 22.

Both join aa free agents.

In a club-issued press release, Real Monarchs general manager Elliott Fall said both players bring something to the team.

"Diego is a dynamic attacking player with a great resume,” he said about Calvo. “He fits the profile of the type of player we believe can improve our team and we think that we have the type of environment that will allow him to thrive.”

He continued about Mare: "He is a talented attacking player who gives us something that we don’t presently have on the roster."

Calvo joins with a wealth of first-team experience, while Mare has none. It should shape up for an interesting end to the 2017 season for the club.
