Young attacking midfielder Luis Gil, 19, has been called up by Tab Ramos for another United States Under-20s training camp from Jan. 14 to Jan. 22, which will take place in Puebla, Mexico.
The camp will feature two closed-door friendlies against Panama on Jan. 19 and Jan. 21, meaning Gil will not be involved with the opening days of Real Salt Lake's preseason training, which starts on Jan. 18 with entrance physicals in Salt Lake City.
The camp is undoubtedly preparation for the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which takes place from Feb. 18 to March 3 in Puebla, where the U.S. will hope to finish in at least the semi-finals to ensure their qualification for the U-20s World Cup this summer.
Gil isn't the only player who will be missing the opening of preseason for Real Salt Lake: Tony Beltran and Kyle Beckerman are with the U.S. Men's National Team, which culminates in a Jan. 29 friendly against Canada.
