Real Salt Lake forward Alvaro Saborio will captain Costa Rica during the Copa Centramericana, which starts today for the nation, the club announced on The Sovereign, its official blog.
Costa Rica's first match is tonight against Belize; they also play against Nicaragua on Sunday, Guatemala on Tuesday, and could play in further matches on Jan. 25 and Jan. 27. The top five finishing teams will qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
According to Real Salt Lake, Saborio will re-join the club following a Feb. 6 World Cup Qualifier against Panama.
