Abdoulie Mansally played 80 minutes as both an attacking midfielder and a forward for The Gambia as they lost 3-0 to the Ivory Coast in FIFA 2014 World Cup Qualification play.
Mansally struggled to find involvement when playing as a tucked-in attacking midfielder, but he fared slightly better as a forward. Gambia failed to produce many chances of note, although Mansally had some good moments and was several times fouled in good positions.
He moved to forward when Momodou Ceesay, who plays for FC Kairat in the Kazakhstan Premier League, was taken out of the match at the half through injury.
Fellow MLSers Futty Danso and Sanna Nyassi both played 90 minutes in the match.
Gambia hosts the Ivory Coast on June 7; whether Mansally will be involved with that squad may very well depend on his club form. His club form, to that point, will depend heavily on how involved left back Chris Wingert is by the summer's start — he's still out of consideration after suffering a broken bone in his foot during the offseason.
