Real Salt Lake captain Kyle Beckerman will start against Mexico in a World Cup Qualifier tonight and will be partnered by Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones.
Beckerman's start comes after Roma midfielder Michael Bradley fell victim to an ankle roll sustained during warm-ups before the Costa Rica match on Friday. Defensive man Geoff Cameron was shown a yellow card during that match, putting him out of contention.
This marks the fourth time since 2009 that Beckerman has started against Mexico.
U.S. Lineup
Howard; F. Johnson, Goodson, Gonzalez, Beasley; Jones, Beckerman; Bedoya, Dempsey (captain), Donovan; E. Johnson
Of the 11 starters, six are MLS regulars: Omar Gonzalez, Clarence Goodson, Kyle Beckerman, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan and Eddie Johnson. It doesn't mean everything, but it certainly says something positive about the state of our league.
