Luis Gil named to US U-23 side for camp in Bahamas

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Today, we should all be a little jealous of Luis Gil. He's been named to the United States under-23 side — an Olympics preparatory group — in the Bahamas.

Gil, who has been named to these Olympics prep squads in the past, but was unable to join the last one through injury, is surely the most experienced of the group, which consists almost entirely of young professionals.

The camp, which takes place from Aug. 3 to Aug. 7, will see the U-23s take on the prestigious Bahamas senior national team.

RSL plays Aug. 2 against Colorado Rapids, so he'll depart following that match, and plays again Aug. 9 against DC United. As such, Gil isn't likely to miss time for Real Salt Lake.
